Youssef Chermiti: Besiktas eye move for Rangers’ Portugal-Tunisia striker

Youssef Chermiti, the Portugal-Tunisia centre-forward currently at Rangers, is the subject of transfer interest from Turkish Super Lig side Besiktas as the Istanbul club explore options to strengthen their attack.

The 22-year-old, who wears the No 9 shirt at Ibrox, is under contract with the Scottish Premiership club until 30 June 2029, meaning Rangers would be in a strong position in any talks and a significant fee is likely to be required. Chermiti is currently valued at around €15 million, a figure that will form a key reference point in any negotiations between the clubs.

Born in Santa Maria in the Azores and standing at 1.92m, Chermiti joined Rangers on 1 September 2025 and has since established himself as a central figure in their forward line. His performances in Scotland have drawn attention beyond the Premiership, with Besiktas viewing the right-footed striker as a potential marquee addition for their Super Lig campaign.

The Istanbul club are reported to be assessing whether they can match Rangers’ valuation and the financial demands of a long-term contract that still has three years to run after the upcoming season. Rangers, for their part, are aware that a major sale could reshape their squad-building plans but are under no pressure to sell given the length of Chermiti’s deal.

For now, Chermiti remains a Rangers player preparing for the new season with four years left on his contract and growing interest from one of Turkey’s biggest clubs.
