Youssef Belaili, facing a training ban imposed by Esperance de Tunis due to his refusal to extend his contract, may find himself playing in the French Ligue 1 next season if negotiations progress as planned. In an interview with the Algerian daily El Heddaf, the attacking midfielder disclosed ongoing discussions with Montpellier.
“My representatives have rejected the contract extension proposal and are exerting pressure on me. (…) I’ve been in talks with Montpellier, but there’s nothing concrete at the moment,” he stated, before mentioning potential opportunities in Spain.
“However, I may also consider joining a Spanish club. La Liga is a league that aligns well with my style of play, I believe. I will reveal the name of the club once everything is finalized.”
