Youssef Belaili is still fighting his way back from a serious cruciate ligament injury suffered in November 2025 during the Tunis derby against Club Africain, an ordeal that has kept him out for months and worried fans of both club and country.
He has thrown himself into a strict rehabilitation programme under his club’s medical staff and, by mid‑February 2026, progressed to advanced individual training as he targets a phased return to competition. According to Kooora, those close to him say his main goal is to be fit by early April so he can reclaim his place in Algeria’s 2026 World Cup squad, a dream he shares with millions of supporters.
Away from the pitch, Belaili showed a deeply human side in a moment that touched Algerians across social media. The Algerian international stopped to take a picture with a child selling tissues on a street, only to discover that the child did not have a smartphone, so he decided to buy him one so that he could send him pictures.
The video of the encounter spread quickly online, bringing many to tears and reinforcing Belaïli’s image as a star who has not forgotten where he came from.
