Moroccan lower division side Raja Beni Mellal has appointed Youssef Anis as the new head coach of their first team, following the resignation of Mohamed Ismaili Alaoui.
The announcement comes as the club seeks to reverse a difficult start to the season in Morocco’s second national football division.
In an official statement, the Mellali-based club said, “Raja Beni Mellal Football Club announces the appointment of national coach Youssef Anis as the new coach of the first team, to lead the technical staff during the remainder of the current sports season.”
The club added that the decision is part of a broader effort “to correct its course and return to the path of positive results, in line with the aspirations of the team’s components and its loyal fans.”
Ismaili Alaoui stepped down earlier this week, leaving the team in need of fresh leadership. This follows the earlier departure of Wydad coach Abdelilah Saber after just two rounds of the tournament.
Raja Beni Mellal currently finds itself at the bottom of the second division standings, having secured only 7 points out of a possible 14.
With Anis now in charge, the club and its supporters hope for a turnaround in fortunes as the season progresses.
