Younes Taha: Wolfsburg eye move for FC Twente winger amid contract ticking down

Morocco-Netherlands winger Younes Taha of FC Twente is being linked with a move to Wolfsburg, with the 2. Bundesliga side monitoring his situation as he enters the final year of his contract in Enschede.

The 23-year-old, born in Amsterdam and comfortable cutting in from the right onto his left foot, is under contract with Twente until 30 June 2027 but is understood to be attracting interest from Germany after establishing himself in the Eredivisie. His current market valuation is €4m, a figure likely to frame any negotiations should Wolfsburg decide to formalise their interest.

Taha has made 62 Eredivisie appearances with eight goals and 11 assists, emerging as a regular at top-flight level after a spell in the Keuken Kampioen Divisie, where he scored 14 times in 33 outings. Last season included a loan to FC Groningen before he returned to Twente at the end of the campaign, a move that provided additional minutes and exposure ahead of this summer’s window.

At international level, Taha was part of the Morocco U23 side that won the Under-23 Africa Cup of Nations in 2023, a success that has further raised his profile outside the Netherlands. That achievement, combined with his domestic progression, has brought increased scrutiny from clubs in neighbouring leagues.

Twente signed Taha from PEC Zwolle in July 2023 for a reported €1.2m fee and now face a decision over whether to cash in or push to extend his deal, with Wolfsburg among the clubs assessing whether to test the Dutch side’s resolve before his contract runs closer to expiry.
