Younes Taha: Morocco winger at FC Twente linked with Schalke move

Morocco-born Netherlands-raised winger Younes Taha of FC Twente is being linked with a summer move to Bundesliga side FC Schalke 04 as the German club assess wide attacking options for the new season. The 23-year-old right winger is under contract in Enschede until 30 June 2027, meaning Schalke would need to negotiate a fee with Twente rather than pursue a low-cost deal.

Taha, a left-footed attacker who operates from the right, has amassed 62 Eredivisie appearances with eight goals and 11 assists, establishing himself in the Dutch top flight since moving to Twente in July 2023 from PEC Zwolle for €1.2m. His current valuation stands at around €4m, a figure likely to frame any discussions over a potential transfer to Germany.

Twente briefly loaned Taha to FC Groningen for the 2025-26 campaign before recalling him at the end of the season, underlining his status as a player with resale value as well as on-pitch importance. He has also featured in European qualifiers and domestic cup action for Twente, adding continental experience to his profile.

Internationally, Taha’s reputation was enhanced when he won the Under-23 Africa Cup of Nations title with Morocco U23s in 2023, a success that has added to his visibility outside the Netherlands.

With his deal at Twente running for another year beyond the upcoming season, the Dutch club are in a strong position to dictate terms, and there is no indication at this stage that a move to Schalke is imminent.
