Youcef Douar: Algerian centre-back joins USM Khenchela on free transfer from ES Setif
Algerian defender Youcef Douar has joined Ligue 1 side USM Khenchela on a free transfer from ES Setif. The 28-year-old centre-back moves after two seasons with Setif and links up with his new club ahead of the 2026-27 campaign.
Born in Oran and standing at 1.80m, Douar arrives as an experienced right-footed central defender with extensive top-flight experience in Algeria. He made 169 Ligue 1 appearances in his career prior to the move, scoring twice and providing one assist while accumulating more than 13,700 minutes of league football.
Douar’s switch to USM Khenchela comes with his market value currently assessed at €250,000, underlining his status as a seasoned domestic performer. He will be expected to add stability and depth to the heart of the defence as Khenchela prepare for another season in the Algerian top flight.
The defender first established himself at Paradou AC, stepping up from the club’s U21 ranks in 2017 before earning a move to ES Setif in 2024, also on a free transfer. His experience includes appearances not only in the league and domestic cup competitions but also in the CAF Confederation Cup, where he has featured eight times.
Douar officially joined USM Khenchela on 20 July 2026 following the expiry of his deal at ES Setif, completing a permanent free transfer within Ligue 1.
