Youcef Douar: Algeria defender joins USM Khenchela on free transfer

Algerian centre-back Youcef Douar has joined USM Khenchela on a free transfer from ES Setif. The 28-year-old moves across Ligue 1 after his contract with Setif ended, strengthening Khenchela’s defensive options ahead of the new campaign.

Born in Oran and standing at 1.80m, Douar arrives with significant top-flight experience. He has made 169 appearances in Ligue 1, operating primarily as a right-footed central defender, and has also featured in both domestic cup competitions and the CAF Confederation Cup. His extensive minutes at senior level underline his status as an established performer in Algerian football.

Douar joined ES Setif in July 2024, also on a free transfer, after progressing through the ranks at Paradou. He stepped up from Paradou’s youth set-up to the first team in 2017, building his reputation over several seasons before earning a move to Setif. His latest switch marks only the third club move of his professional career, indicating a player who has tended to be a long-term presence wherever he plays.

With a current market value of around €250,000, Douar represents a notable acquisition for USM Khenchela as they look to add experience and stability at the back. The defender officially joined the club on 20 July 2026 and will now begin the next phase of his Ligue 1 career in Khenchela colours.
