Yohan Baret: French-Ivorian defender joins VFC La Roche on free transfer from Chambly Oise

French-Ivorian centre-back Yohan Baret has joined VFC La Roche on a free transfer from FC Chambly Oise, strengthening the Ligue 3 sides defensive options ahead of the new campaign.

The 25-year-old moves after a short spell with Chambly, which he joined in January 2026 following a free transfer from Greek club Ilioupoli. His arrival marks a return to French football on a permanent basis after several seasons split between France, Greece and Cyprus.

Baret, born in LIle-Saint-Denis and standing at 1.84m, has been used primarily as a central defender throughout his career and is right-footed. He holds both French and Ivorian nationality, giving La Roche a player with experience of different footballing cultures and styles.

Before his move to Chambly, Baret built up significant game time across the French lower divisions and abroad. He previously featured in National 1 and National 2 with US Avranches and gained further first-team experience in Greeces Super League 2 with Panachaiki and Ilioupoli, as well as a spell in the Cypriot top flight.

Across league and cup competitions, Baret has accumulated more than 140 senior appearances, including over 50 in Ligue 3 and more than 20 in National 1. Notably, he has also contributed goals from the back, scoring in both National 2 and Super League 2 during his time overseas.

Having left Chambly at the end of last season, Baret now begins a new chapter with VFC La Roche following the completion of his free transfer.
