Yaya Touré’s transfer saga has been quite the rollercoaster this week. The Ivorian midfielder was very close to leaving Manchester City for PSG — the deal seemed almost done at one point. However, recent developments have changed the course.
Reports suggested PSG’s strong interest in Touré, especially amid some tensions between him and Manchester City. Personal difficulties, including having to attend to teammates during his brother’s final hours, and an unwanted birthday event, seemed to sour his relationship with City.
One of Yaya’s close friends told L’Equipe that Touré was “disgusted, fed up, and didn’t want to hear anything about Manchester City anymore,” fueling speculation about a move.
But despite all this, Yaya Touré himself recently made it clear he wants to stay at City. In an interview, he said:
“It’s my decision: I’m going to stay at Man City as long as possible. The debate is now closed. Now I’m very happy to join the team and the manager.”
He also affirmed:
“I will honor my contract with Manchester City and stay as long as possible. I don’t think about all this speculation about my future. It’s a pleasure to continue here.”
So for now, Yaya Touré is set to remain a key player for Manchester City, putting the PSG rumors on hold — at least this season.
