Yaya Touré continues to set records this season. Winning accolades like “African Player of the Year”, “BBC Player of the Year”, and “Golden Lion 2013”, the Ivorian midfielder is excelling both on and off the field.
In Manchester City’s 4-0 victory against Aston Villa on Wednesday, Touré secured his place in history by scoring the club’s 100th league goal of the season with a strike in the 94th minute. This goal also marked his 20th of the season, accompanied by 8 assists, setting a new record for the player who honed his skills at ASEC.
With his outstanding performances this season, Touré is on track for a third consecutive African Ballon d’Or, surpassing the achievements of Cameroonian legend Samuel Eto’o. Additionally, he is poised to potentially win his second Premier League title in England in three years next weekend.
