Yaya Touré Defends Samir Nasri’s Reputation: “He’s a Very Good Boy”
Samir Nasri has often been portrayed in the media as a controversial figure, but according to his former Manchester City teammate Yaya Touré, that image is unfair and misleading. Speaking on RMC, the Ivorian midfielder came to the Frenchman’s defense, describing Nasri as misunderstood and genuinely kind-hearted.
“Samir is someone who is super nice,” said Touré. “I see him a bit like my brother, I am very close to him. He has a great love for his country.”
Nasri, who has had a rocky relationship with the French public and national team over the years, has been criticized for his outspokenness and some off-the-field controversies. However, Touré believes much of the criticism stems from youthful missteps and miscommunication.
“Youth meant that he had to go through some rather complicated times. He must have expressed himself a little clumsily,” Touré added. “He admitted his mistake. He explained himself several times.”
Touré concluded by emphasizing the positive side of his teammate, stating:
“He remains a very good boy and a very positive person.”
While Nasri’s national team career has long been a topic of debate in France, Touré’s comments highlight a different perspective—one that sees beyond public perception to the man behind the headlines.
