Guinea has been grappling with the deadly Ebola virus, with two new deaths reported on Tuesday, bringing the total death toll to 63. This has put the entire West African sub-region on high alert. In response, Mauritania has closed all external access to ECOWAS countries as a precautionary measure.
Even African athletes based in Europe have joined in solidarity with Guinea. Ivorian Yaya Touré, Ghanaian Andre Ayew, along with Guineans Larsen Touré, Fode Koita, and Joshua Guilavogui, have voiced their support for the fight against the virus.
Larsen Touré (@LarsEntoure) expressed his sympathy for Guinea, acknowledging the difficult situation his country is facing due to the virus.
Josuha Guilavogui (@JossGuilavogui) sent his support to Guinea, his native country, in its battle against the Ebola epidemic, urging courage.
Yaya Touré (@Toure_yaya42) and Fode Koita (@bangalikoita) also shared their thoughts and prayers for Guinea, urging unity in the fight against the virus.
