The long-anticipated transfer of Yaya Sanogo to Arsenal has been officially confirmed by the London club. Arsenal announced that the 20-year-old French striker has signed a long-term contract, although specific details weren’t provided. However, according to L’Equipe, it is reported to be a four-year deal.
Arsène Wenger, the manager of Arsenal at the time, expressed his satisfaction with the acquisition, stating, “Sanogo is a very good operation for us. He showed that he had potential, given his recent performances with Auxerre but also with the French under-20 team. We can’t wait for Yaya to join us to continue his progress.”
Yaya Sanogo, a Franco-Ivorian striker, had trained in Auxerre and was at the end of his contract when the transfer was completed. In the previous season, he scored 11 goals in 24 matches. Despite interest from several Ligue 1 clubs like Lyon, Lille, and Saint-Etienne, Sanogo chose Arsenal. At the time of the transfer, he was with the French under-20 team participating in the U20 World Cup.
