Yassine Kechta: Morocco midfielder joins CD Leganes on free transfer from Le Havre AC
Morocco midfielder Yassine Kechta has joined Spanish side CD Leganes on a free transfer from Le Havre AC. The 24-year-old central midfielder has signed a contract with the LaLiga2 club until 30 June 2030.
Kechta, who was born in Paris and holds both Moroccan and French nationality, ends a long association with Le Havre to make his first move abroad. His arrival gives Leganes a left-footed option in central midfield as they reshape their squad for the new campaign.
The move follows a breakthrough spell with Le Havres first team, where he progressed from the clubs youth ranks to feature regularly in Ligue 1. Across his time in the French top flight he made 93 appearances, scoring six goals and providing three assists, having earlier played 29 times in Ligue 2 during Le Havres promotion push.
Standing at 1.74m, Kechta came through the youth systems of Racing CFF and Paris FC before joining Le Havre as a teenager in 2016. He moved step by step through their age groups, from the youth team to the under-17s, under-19s and B side, before being promoted to the senior squad in 2022.
Kechtas market value was recently estimated at 4m, underlining the significance for Leganes of securing the midfielder without a transfer fee. The deal sees him commit his long-term future to the Spanish club after a decade in French football.
