Yassine Chikhaoui, who moved from FC Zurich to Al Gharrafa in Qatar this summer, might be heading back to Europe soon. Real Betis from La Liga is reportedly interested in signing the Tunisian midfielder during the upcoming winter transfer window.
Thanks to a clause in his contract with Al Gharrafa, Chikhaoui can leave if a European club makes an offer.
Chikhaoui’s career has been marked by promise but also setbacks: after shining early—especially at the 2006 World Cup when he was a surprising starter for Tunisia at just 20—he struggled with injuries and inconsistency during his eight seasons in Switzerland. Although linked at times with top European clubs like Arsenal, Juventus, and Dortmund, he never fully broke through, partly due to his nonchalance in training and repeated injuries as noted by his coaches at Zurich.
If the move to Betis happens, it could be a fresh chance for Chikhaoui to revive his European career.
