Moroccan goalkeeper Yassine Bounou is poised to return to action for Saudi giants Al Hilal on Thursday, ending a spell on the sidelines following his injury at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
The Moroccan international missed several weeks after sustaining a quadriceps injury during Morocco’s 1-0 loss to Senegal in the AFCON final.
Reports from Saudi media indicate that Bounou has completed his rehabilitation and is ready to resume training and competitive play. His return is expected to provide a significant boost to Al Hilal’s defensive line ahead of crucial fixtures in the Saudi Professional League.
Bounou’s absence had forced Al Hilal to rely on backup options, highlighting the importance of his experience and leadership at the back.
The 32-year-old goalkeeper has long been regarded as one of Morocco’s top talents, having played a pivotal role in both club and country competitions. His return not only strengthens Al Hilal’s starting eleven but also restores confidence to a defence that struggled without him in recent matches.
The upcoming match against Al Qadsiah offers Bounou a chance to ease back into competitive action and regain full match fitness.
With the Saudi league title race intensifying, having a fit and experienced goalkeeper like Bounou could prove decisive for Al Hilal’s ambitions this season.
