Concerns grow over Yassine Bounou’s dip in form ahead of Morocco’s World Cup qualifiers

Moroccan international goalkeeper Yassine Bounou has firmly dismissed the idea of ever joining Raja Casablanca, making it clear that such a transfer is not an option for him.

The shot stopper, who currently represents Al-Hilal in Saudi Arabia, addressed the speculation during a radio appearance, with his remarks later published by YSscores. In his comments, Bounou stated, “Playing for Raja is completely out of the question.”

He went on to explain that representing a direct rival of clubs he has previously played for, whether in Morocco or abroad, would conflict with his personal principles. Loyalty, he suggested, remains a core value in his career decisions.

“I am a son of Wydad Casablanca, and therefore it is difficult for me to play for Raja,” he added, reaffirming his deep-rooted connection to Wydad Casablanca.

Despite the intensity of club rivalries in Moroccan football, Bounou emphasised that competition on the pitch does not erase mutual respect. He noted that he has never experienced hostile treatment from supporters of rival teams, insisting that respect has consistently defined his interactions.

With his position now unmistakably clear, any talk of a future switch across Casablanca’s fierce divide appears firmly shut down.
