Moroccan national team coach Walid Regragui has received reassuring news regarding his first-choice goalkeeper, Yassine Bounou, ahead of the team’s upcoming friendly matches against Ecuador and Paraguay.
Bounou, who currently plays for Saudi Arabia’s Al-Hilal, participated fully in training on Thursday, showing complete readiness after recovering from a shoulder injury.
The goalkeeper’s return to full fitness is a boost for Regragui as he prepares his squad for the final stages of World Cup preparation.
The 2025-2026 Saudi Roshan League continues this Friday with a highly anticipated match between Al-Hilal and Al-Ettifaq at the Kingdom Arena.
According to the Saudi newspaper Al-Riyadh, Bounou took part in the session normally, completing all training drills and demonstrating that he is ready for competitive action.
Bounou had missed Al-Hilal’s recent goalless draw (0-0) against Shabab Al Ahli in Dubai, part of the seventh round of the AFC Champions League Elite West Group, raising concerns about his availability.
With his recovery now confirmed, Regragui can count on the experienced goalkeeper in the national team’s upcoming matches.
The Moroccan national team will face Ecuador on March 27 and Paraguay on March 31, 2026, as part of their World Cup build-up ahead of the finals scheduled in June across the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Bounou’s full fitness will be crucial as Morocco aims to enter the tournament with a solid and confident defensive setup.
