Yassine Benzia nominated for FIFA Puskás award
Algerian footballer Yassine Benzia has been shortlisted for the prestigious FIFA Puskás Award, recognizing his stunning goal against South Africa during a FIFA Series match in March 2024.
The Karabakh forward’s breathtaking strike earned him a place among the final 11 contenders for the annual accolade, which celebrates the most remarkable goals in global football.
Benzia’s effort showcased exceptional technique and creativity, leaving fans and analysts in awe.
His competition for the coveted award includes notable goals such as Ghanaian Kudus Mohammed’s strike for West Ham against Freiburg, Manchester United’s Alejandro Garnacho’s acrobatic finish against Everton, and Qatari Hassan Al-Haydos’s memorable goal against China.
Fans worldwide are invited to cast their votes via FIFA’s official platform to help determine the winner.
The Puskás Award, named after the legendary Hungarian forward and Real Madrid star Ferenc Puskás, was established by FIFA in 2009.
It honors the most spectacular goals scored in men’s and women’s football each year. Since 2016, it has been integrated into FIFA’s annual “The Best” awards ceremony.
Benzia, a product of Olympique Lyonnais’s renowned youth academy, continues to make headlines with his skillful performances on the international stage.
His nomination not only highlights his individual talent but also shines a spotlight on Algerian football’s growing influence on the global stage.
The FIFA Puskás Award winner will be announced at “The Best” FIFA Football Awards, with football fans eagerly awaiting the results of the public vote.
