Yassine Benzia has officially joined Saudi Arabian side Al-Fayha FC, marking the latest chapter in the Algerian international’s career following his departure from Qarabağ FK.

The 29-year-old, who had been a free agent since the conclusion of his stint with the Azerbaijani champions, has signed a one-year contract with the Saudi Pro League club.

Benzia, who was a finalist for the 2024 FIFA Puskás Award, becomes Al-Fayha’s latest reinforcement as the club looks to fortify its squad ahead of a demanding campaign.

Last season, Al-Fayha narrowly avoided relegation, finishing just outside the drop zone.

Determined to improve on that performance, the club has actively pursued experienced talents capable of injecting quality and composure into their ranks.

Currently in the Netherlands for their pre-season training camp, Al-Fayha announced Benzia’s arrival with enthusiasm, emphasizing the Algerian’s versatility and technical prowess as vital assets.

Known for his ability to operate across midfield and in advanced attacking roles, Benzia’s creative flair and vision are expected to play a key role as Al-Fayha aims to climb the Saudi Pro League standings.

For Benzia, this move represents not only a fresh opportunity but also a step into one of the most dynamic football landscapes in recent years.

The Saudi Pro League has rapidly gained prominence as a magnet for international stars, and Benzia now joins a growing list of high-profile players opting to continue their careers in the Middle East.

Al-Fayha has demonstrated their ambition, and I am eager to contribute to this exciting project, Benzia said after finalizing his deal.

The Algerian international’s ability to make an impact in critical moments was a significant factor in Al-Fayha’s pursuit of his signature.

Having begun his professional career at Olympique Lyonnais, Benzia has since built a journeyman career across Europe, with spells in France, Turkey, and most recently Azerbaijan.

His stint at Qarabağ FK saw him play an instrumental role in the club’s domestic dominance and continental campaigns, further honing his experience on both fronts.

Benzia’s move to Al-Fayha signals a strategic addition for a side eager to solidify its place among Saudi Arabia’s elite clubs.

With his technical abilities and wealth of experience, Benzia is poised to become a key figure in Al-Fayha’s pursuit of a more competitive standing in the league.

As the Saudi Pro League season looms, all eyes will be on Benzia to see how swiftly he adapts to his new environment and how pivotal his contributions will be in Al-Fayha’s quest for a turnaround season.
