Yassine Benzia, the Lyon striker, has expressed his commitment to playing for the French national team and does not consider representing Algeria, his country of origin. Born in Saint-Aubin-lès-Elbeuf in Upper Normandy, Benzia has already played in the youth selection of the French team, being part of the U17 group that participated in the 2011 FIFA U-17 World Cup. He appreciates the opportunities he has had with the French team and expressed his gratitude, stating, “I don’t ask myself the question about Algeria. I was born here, that’s what opened the doors to my little career for the moment. I am very grateful to the French team. I am very honored to wear this jersey. I hope to wear it one day with the A’s.”
