Yannis Lawson: Togo-Belgian left-back returns to RFC Seraing on loan from Metz
Togo-Belgian defender Yannis Lawson has rejoined RFC Seraing on loan from French side FC Metz, returning to his hometown club for the 2026-27 campaign. The 21-year-old left-back moves on a temporary deal from the Ligue 2 outfit to Challenger Pro League side Seraing, where he previously broke into senior football.
Lawson, who was born in Seraing and is left-footed, has signed on a loan agreement running until 30 June 2027. He heads back to the Belgian club two years after leaving them for Metz, having moved to France on a free transfer in July 2025. His current market value is listed at around €200,000.
The defender first stepped up to Seraing’s senior squad in 2024 after progressing through the club’s youth, under-18 and under-23 teams. He quickly established himself in the Challenger Pro League, making 30 appearances and contributing one goal and one assist, as well as featuring in the Croky Cup.
Before his move back to Belgium, Lawson had also played in France’s lower divisions, recording 17 games and one goal in National 2 Group E, alongside earlier experience in the Belgian 2de Nationale. His return offers Seraing a familiar option at left-back with significant minutes already behind him at this level.
Lawson’s loan from Metz to RFC Seraing is confirmed for the 2026-27 season, with the defender scheduled to return to the French club at the end of the agreement.
