Yannick Gomis: AEL Limassol sign former Aris forward on free transfer

AEL Limassol have signed second striker Yannick Gomis from city rivals Aris Limassol on a free transfer. The 34-year-old moves across Limassol within the Cyprus League, with his transfer completed on 7 July 2026.

Gomis, a Senegal- and Guinea-Bissau-qualified forward born in Dakar, joins AEL after four seasons with Aris, having arrived there from French club EA Guingamp in July 2022. His current market value is listed at 275,000, reflecting a gradual decline from the peak of his career in France but underlining his continued standing as an experienced attacking option.

Standing at 1.80m and predominantly right-footed, Gomis is primarily deployed as a second striker. His move keeps him in the Cypriot top flight, where he has been based since leaving Guingamp, offering AEL a player already accustomed to the domestic competition and local conditions.

Before his spell in Cyprus, Gomis built up extensive experience in French football. He moved to RC Lens from US Orleans in 2018 after significantly increasing his market value during his time with Orleans, and then joined Guingamp in 2019, where his valuation once reached 2 million. Those years in Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 established him as a seasoned professional in European football.

Gomiss value has steadily decreased since his arrival at Aris, falling from 650,000 in early 2023 to its current 275,000, mirroring his progression into the latter stages of his career while remaining an active presence in the Cypriot league.

The transfer sees AEL Limassol add an experienced, domestically proven forward to their attacking options at no cost.
