Yannick Ferrera has kicked off his Zamalek journey with a clear mission, to take the Cairo giants to new heights in the 21st century.
The Belgian coach officially took charge of the team this week, following swift and smooth negotiations with the club’s leadership.
Ferrera stressed unity as a pillar for success and also vowed to make the players fight for the fans.
“Zamalek is a big club and one of the best in Egypt,” Ferrera told the club’s media center.
“I read that it was voted the best club of the 20th century. Now, we aspire to make it the best club of the 21st century.
“The most important thing is that we all pull in the same direction. If that happens, the natural results will be victories.
“I won’t come here and lie and say, ‘With me, you’ll win.’ What I can say is, ‘With me, we’ll work hard and fight in every match. We’ll carry the same values that Zamalek fans believe in. If we all come together for this goal, victories will follow.
“I promise you one thing only: the players will fight for you from day one until the final whistle on the last day of the season. And that’s a promise I’m committed to wholeheartedly.”
