Zamalek coach Yannick Ferreira has made a bold call ahead of his side’s clash with Arab Contractors in the Egyptian Premier League’s second round, leaving out three players from his squad.
The Portuguese manager showed that discipline and focus remain central to his plans as he continues shaping the team’s character in the early weeks of the campaign.
According to Kooora, Ferreira excluded Angolan winger Chico Banza, Tunisian forward Seifeddine Jaziri, and goalkeeper Mehdi Slimane for different reasons. His decision on Banza came after the player reacted angrily when substituted in the 66th minute against Ceramica Cleopatra. Banza protested visibly, refusing to greet the coaching staff or teammates as he returned to the bench, behavior Ferreira was not prepared to overlook.
Meanwhile, Jaziri and Slimane were left out for technical reasons, with Ferreira insisting that Nasser Mansi is his main striker for now, while Mohamed Sobhi and Mohamed Awad are the chosen goalkeepers.
The Zamalek squad includes Mohamed Awad, Sobhi, Mahmoud El-Shenawy, Omar Gaber, Mahmoud Hamdy El-Wensh, Salah Mossadek, Nabil Emad Dunga, Abdullah El-Saeed, Nasser Maher, and striker Nasser Mansi.
