Yannick Ferreira left the pitch with quiet satisfaction after Zamalek’s 2-0 win over Ceramica Cleopatra, praising the collective fight and focus of his side.
The Belgian coach admitted the game had its tricky moments, with the opponents seeing more of the ball at times, but he was proud of how his players stayed sharp and disciplined.
“Zamalek succeeded in controlling Ceramica’s possession, who were only given one chance in the first half. We succeeded in creating many opportunities, and the team appeared with a very excellent mentality,” he said.
Ferreira clarified that Dunga’s exit was not due to injury, but to caution after a yellow card and signs of fatigue. Chico Banza’s visible frustration at being taken off was also brushed aside.
“I’ve never seen a player substituted and be happy in my life,” he smiled, confident the forward will bounce back.
He credited Zamalek fans for inspiring the team and revealed plans to work closely with the strikers in training. As for Adi Al-Dabbagh, Ferreira confirmed supporters will see him in action soon.
