Yannick Ferreira praises Zamalek spirit in hard-fought win over Modern Sport
Yannick Ferreira walked into the press room with a smile that showed both relief and pride.
The Belgian coach guided Zamalek to a 2-1 victory over Modern Sport in the Egyptian Premier League, describing it as the best of the three league matches he has overseen with the White Knights.
“I’m happy with the win, and I’m also happy with the players’ commitment and the fans’ support,” Ferreira said after the game. “I think the match was Zamalek’s best of the three matches they’ve played in the league.”
Ferreira stressed the need to be more ruthless in front of goal. “We deserved to win against Modern, but we missed the opportunity to kill off the match,” he admitted.
He applauded the team’s discipline in the first half, their quick start in the second, and the resilience shown after conceding. Tactical choices, including late substitutions, reflected his concern with Modern’s set-piece threat.
Ferreira ended by praising Adam Kayed’s versatility and hinted that sharper finishing from his attackers will soon turn narrow wins into more comfortable ones.
