Yann Mabella: Persebaya Surabaya sign Terengganu striker on free transfer

Persebaya Surabaya have completed the signing of centre-forward Yann Mabella from Terengganu FC on a free transfer for the 2026-27 season. The 30-year-old moves to the Liga 1 side with a current market value of 300,000.

Mabella, a Congo and France national, joins Persebaya after a one-year spell in the Malaysia Super League with Terengganu, where his market value returned to the 300,000 mark it had previously reached earlier in his career. Standing at 1.83m and predominantly right-footed, he is expected to operate through the middle of the attack for the Indonesian club.

Born in Toulouse on 22 February 1996, Mabella has built a career across several European leagues before his recent move to Southeast Asia. Prior to joining Terengganu in 2025, he played for Racing FC Union Luxembourg, SV Waldhof Mannheim in Germany and Royal Excelsior Virton in Belgium, experiencing football in Luxembourgs top flight, the German system and the Belgian ranks.

His longest spell came with Racing FC Union Luxembourg, where he first arrived in 2019 and saw his market value climb steadily from around 150,000 to 250,000 over several seasons. That period followed earlier years in France with AS Nancy-Lorraine, Tours FC and a loan at LB Chateauroux, after progressing through youth systems at Lyon and Nancy.

Mabellas move to Persebaya marks his first stint in Indonesian football and continues a career that has taken him from French academies to professional leagues in France, Luxembourg, Belgium, Germany and Malaysia.
