Yann Gboho sees Trabzonspor move collapse

Yann Gboho’s proposed transfer to Trabzonspor has collapsed at the final stage after the Toulouse winger reportedly turned down a move to Turkey despite an agreement between the clubs.

The Ivorian left-sided attacker Yann Gboho, who impressed again with an assist in Toulouse’s 2-1 win over Lyon on Sunday, continues to enjoy a strong season in Ligue 1. His performances have increased interest in his services ahead of the summer transfer window.

Recently promoted Premier League side Coventry City had identified Gboho as a key target to strengthen their squad, but they were seemingly beaten to a deal by Turkish club Trabzonspor.

According to journalist Hasan Tüncel, Trabzonspor had been in discussions with the player’s representatives for some time and had even reached an agreement with Toulouse FC for a transfer package worth around €12 million, including bonuses.

However, the move ultimately broke down after Gboho decided not to proceed with the transfer. His refusal led Trabzonspor to end negotiations and shift their focus to alternative targets to strengthen their wide attacking options.

Despite the collapse of the deal, Gboho remains one of the more sought-after attacking players in the market following a productive season.

He has registered 10 goals and three assists in 35 appearances across all competitions, underlining his attacking contribution for Toulouse.

Under contract with the French club until June 2027, the 25-year-old is currently valued at around €15 million, according to Transfermarkt. He earns an annual salary of approximately €1.02 million.

With the transfer window still in its early stages, further interest in Gboho is expected, and his future remains open despite this latest failed move.
