Yan Diomande among two wingers targeted by Liverpool ahead of summer reinforcements
Liverpool FC are preparing for a major attacking rebuild ahead of the summer transfer window, with Ivorian winger Yan Diomande emerging as one of their primary targets.
According to Ben Jacobs, the Premier League side is planning to recruit at least two wide players as part of efforts to refresh their frontline, signalling what could be one of the club’s busiest transfer windows in recent years.
Attack Set for Transition
The expected departure of Mohamed Salah at the end of the season has accelerated Liverpool’s need to reshape their attack. The void left by Luis Díaz, who exited last summer, has also yet to be fully addressed, leaving the club short of depth and cutting edge in wide areas.
With a new tactical direction likely to be implemented, the club is keen to bring in players who can offer pace, creativity and goal contributions, while also fitting into a more fluid attacking system.
Diomande Emerges as Key Target
Among the names under consideration, Diomande, currently playing for RB Leipzig, is seen as a standout option due to his explosiveness, direct style and ability to stretch defenses. His profile aligns with Liverpool’s traditional preference for dynamic wide forwards.
However, negotiations could prove challenging, with Leipzig reportedly placing a hefty €100 million valuation on the winger, a figure that could test Liverpool’s willingness to spend unless there are significant player departures to balance the books.
Competition for Alternative Options
Liverpool are also monitoring Michael Olise, although Bayern Munich are reluctant to part ways with the winger. Meanwhile, Paris Saint-Germain are determined to retain both Bradley Barcola and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia despite growing interest across Europe.
Another name still firmly on Liverpool’s radar is Anthony Gordon of Newcastle United. The club came close to signing him in 2024, and his Premier League experience, work rate and attacking output continue to make him an attractive option.
Versatility Also a Priority
Beyond traditional wingers, Liverpool are exploring the possibility of adding a more central creative option who can also operate out wide. Morgan Rogers of Aston Villa has been identified as a strong candidate due to his versatility and ability to link midfield with attack.
Such a signing would provide tactical flexibility, allowing Liverpool to rotate systems without sacrificing attacking threat.
A Defining Summer Ahead
As the summer window approaches, Liverpool’s recruitment strategy points toward a significant reshaping of their forward line. With multiple high-profile targets under consideration and key departures expected, the coming months could define the next phase of the club’s evolution as they aim to remain competitive both domestically and in Europe.
