Ivorian forward Yan Diomande returns as RB Leipzig receive injury boost
Ivorian forward Yan Diomande has returned to full fitness and rejoined the RB Leipzig squad, providing a timely boost ahead of their upcoming Bundesliga fixture.
The 20-year-old had been sidelined after picking up an injury during Leipzig’s league encounter with Hoffenheim, forcing him to withdraw from Ivory Coast’s national team during the recent international break.
His absence had raised concerns, but he has now completed his recovery and is available for selection once again.
Head coach Ole Werner confirmed the positive update during his pre-match press conference, indicating that the forward is ready to return to competitive action.
His availability strengthens Leipzig’s attacking options at a crucial stage of the season.
Diomande is not the only player returning to the squad. Midfielder Assan Ouédraogo, who has been out since January, is also in contention for the upcoming match against Werder Bremen, offering additional depth in midfield.
Goalkeeper Péter Gulácsi has likewise been reintegrated into the group following his own spell on the sidelines.
Despite these encouraging developments, Leipzig continue to deal with several injury setbacks. Brajan Gruda will miss out due to adductor pain, while Suleman Sani remains unavailable with a hip muscle injury.
The situation is more serious for Leopold Zingerle, who is expected to be ruled out for the remainder of the season after suffering a wrist injury.
As the campaign approaches its decisive phase, Leipzig face the challenge of balancing returning players with ongoing absences.
The coaching staff are expected to closely monitor the fitness of the squad, particularly as each match carries increasing importance.
While the return of Diomande and others offers renewed optimism, the club must still navigate a demanding schedule with a squad that remains partially depleted, making squad management a key factor in their push for results.
