Yan Diomande admits childhood love for PSG

RB Leipzig striker Yan Diomande has addressed reported PSG interest in him for the upcoming transfer window, playfully deflecting while admitting his lifelong affection for the Parisian club.

The 19-year-old Ivory Coast international, who already has nine caps for his country, said he is focused solely on the World Cup running from June 11 to July 19.

Diomande, one of Europe’s hottest young prospects with fewer than 25 professional matches but already on every major club’s radar, was asked about PSG’s supposed interest on Wednesday evening ahead of Thursday’s friendly between France and Ivory Coast. While he kicked the question away, PSG might not leave him indifferent among other suitors.

“It’s a team that I’ve loved since I was very little, but I’m not projecting myself into the future, I’m staying focused on the World Cup, we’ll see what happens next,” Diomande said.

The double European champion’s statement leaves the door slightly open while prioritizing his World Cup performance. His electrifying dribbling and promising performances have already captured European attention at just 19 years old.
