Yahya Attiyat Allah’s absence from Al Ahly’s friendly against Mexican side Pachuca has raised eyebrows, especially as most of the squad featured in the match held in Miami.
According to a member of the technical team, the Moroccan full-back is not being sidelined due to a lack of faith from new coach Jose Riveiro. “Yahya Attiyat Allah is a big player and an international, and it is illogical to mention the word ‘not convinced’,” the source told Kooora.
Three key reasons were given for the decision to keep him out. First, Attiyat Allah is still recovering from a recent injury and has only just returned to training. Second, with Riveiro having taken charge just two weeks ago, there hasn’t been enough time to assess the player properly.
The final factor is strategic, Al Ahly reportedly won’t activate the buy option from FC Sochi after the Club World Cup. As a result, the coach may be prioritizing players who will stay beyond the tournament.
Still, upcoming matches could give Attiyat Allah a chance to prove himself.
