Yacine Titraoui, a 21-year-old midfielder now playing for Sporting Charleroi in Belgium, has expressed his ambition to earn a place in the Algerian national team. Inspired by Algeria’s performance in the 2014 World Cup, Titraoui revealed that his move from Paradou AC to Charleroi this summer was strategic, aimed at advancing his dream of representing the Fennecs under coach Vladimir Petkovic.
Speaking to Belgian media, Titraoui said: “I signed in Charleroi to get closer to the national team.
The €1.2 million transfer marked his first professional experience abroad, signing a three-year deal with an option for an additional year.
Adapting to Belgian football has not been without challenges.
At the beginning, it was difficult mentally, Titraoui admitted, but he emphasized his mental strength in overcoming initial struggles.
Since his arrival, he has appeared in 10 matches, including eight league games, with two starts against Westerlo and Genk.
Reflecting on the team’s performance in the 2-0 loss to Genk, he stated, “We showed a good level, but the defeat is frustrating.
We must continue working to turn these efforts into victories.
As Charleroi prepares for their derby against Standard de Liège, Titraoui is expected to feature in the starting lineup.
The atmosphere in training is positive.
This derby is special for our supporters, and we’ll do everything to get the three points,” he said.
Titraoui’s progress at Charleroi highlights his potential to stand out in the competitive Belgian Pro League.
With continued strong performances, he hopes to catch the attention of Petkovic and eventually don the colors of Algeria’s senior squad.
His determination and growth signal a promising future for the young midfielder.
