Xavi linked with Morocco national team job to replace Walid Regragui
Spain and Barcelona legend Xavi Hernandez has reportedly been identified as a potential successor to Walid Regragui should the Royal Moroccan Football Federation formalise a decision on the current coach’s departure.
Foreign media outlets claim that discussions have already taken place regarding the possibility of the former FC Barcelona manager taking charge of the Atlas Lions. However, Spanish sources indicate that Xavi has turned down the opportunity to lead the national side at the upcoming World Cup in the United States.
According to the same reports, the Spanish tactician communicated directly with federation officials and made it clear that he would only be willing to consider the role after the conclusion of the global tournament.
Xavi’s name has increasingly been linked with Morocco’s national team project in recent weeks, as uncertainty continues to surround Regragui’s future.
Meanwhile, fellow Barcelona legend Andres Iniesta is also said to be close to assuming a position within the national technical structure, further fuelling speculation about a possible new era.
Regragui remains in charge of the Morocco national football team, with any potential change believed to hinge on an official announcement from the federation. Until then, the coaching situation remains the subject of intense debate and growing international attention.
