Wydad Athletic Club will continue their preparations for the new football season with two more friendly matches as the Moroccan giants work to build momentum ahead of their competitive campaign.

Wydad are scheduled to face Difaa El Jadida next Wednesday at the Wellness complex before taking on Renaissance Zemamra on Saturday at 17:00 at the same venue in the Bouskoura area.

The matches will form part of the club’s preparations as the coaching staff assesses the squad and works on improving the players’ physical and technical condition.

Wydad adjust plans for Agadir camp

The Red Team have also had to make changes to their original pre-season programme after difficulties securing training facilities in Agadir forced the club to postpone the start of their planned camp.

Wydad had initially intended to travel to Agadir earlier, but the presence of several other clubs preparing in the city created a shortage of available stadiums and training facilities.

Raja Athletic Club, Maghreb Fez and Hassania Agadir had also selected Agadir for their preparations, contributing to the congestion.

The situation was further complicated by the closure of the Adrar Stadium, which is undergoing renovation work ahead of Morocco’s preparations to host the 2030 World Cup alongside Spain and Portugal.

Wydad’s training camp is now scheduled to begin on 31 August and is expected to last for 10 days.

Ittihad Tanger provide first pre-season test

Before the upcoming fixtures, Wydad had already begun their friendly programme against Ittihad Tanger.

The match ended in a 1-0 victory for Ittihad Tanger, with Ayman El Wafi scoring the only goal of the game.

The result gave Wydad’s coaching staff an early opportunity to assess the squad following a busy summer of recruitment.

Major changes to Wydad squad

The club have significantly reshaped their squad during the transfer window as they prepare for the new campaign.

Among the players brought in are Rachid Ghanimi, Salah Eddine El Koufi and Jordanian international Nizar Al-Rashdan.

Yahya Jabrane, Yahya Attiat-Allah, Hamza Janan Allah, Adel Khaloufi and Ayman Al-Hassoun have also joined the squad.

With further friendlies against Difaa El Jadida and Renaissance Zemamra on the schedule, Wydad will use the remaining weeks of pre-season to integrate their new arrivals and build a side capable of competing on multiple fronts.

The Agadir camp will provide another opportunity for the technical staff to raise the team’s physical and tactical readiness before the start of official competition.
