Wydad defender Guilherme Ferreira returns to Morocco for final rehabilitation phase
Wydad AC defender Guilherme Ferreira has returned to Morocco to begin the final phase of his rehabilitation as he continues his recovery from a serious knee injury that has kept him out of action for an extended period.
The Brazilian centre-back travelled to his home country for specialised individual treatment and rehabilitation after suffering the injury last season. Having completed that stage of his recovery in Brazil, Ferreira is now back in Morocco to continue working towards a full return to competitive football.
According to information from Hesport, a source close to the player confirmed that Ferreira has completed his individual treatment programme in Brazil and will now continue his rehabilitation in Morocco.
The defender is expected to remain in close contact with his Wydad teammates during this period, allowing him to stay connected with the squad while he works through the final stages of his recovery.
Ferreira is said to be in good spirits and remains determined to complete the rehabilitation programme without any setbacks. His progress will be closely monitored before he is cleared to gradually rejoin full team training and eventually return to competitive action.
Current projections suggest that the defender could be back on the pitch at the beginning of the new year, although the exact timing will depend on his recovery and how his knee responds to the final stages of rehabilitation.
Ferreira suffered the injury during Wydad’s match against CODM Meknes in the 19th round of the Professional League. He was forced to leave the pitch after experiencing severe pain in his knee.
Medical examinations subsequently confirmed a torn cruciate ligament, ruling him out for a lengthy period and requiring surgery.
The Brazilian has since undergone a long rehabilitation process, initially completing his treatment and individual recovery work in Brazil before returning to Morocco to finish the final phase of his programme.
Wydad will now hope Ferreira can make steady progress in the coming weeks and return to full fitness without complications, with his potential comeback at the start of the new year offering the club a boost.
