Moroccan giants Wydad Casablanca are reportedly in talks to sign a former FC Barcelona star and a former Manchester City defender, Benjamin Mendy and Pedro, respectively, ahead of the FIFA Club World Cup next month.
The world football governing body, FIFA, has opened a small window for teams competing in the expanded Club World Cup to register new players before the tournament starts in June.
Mendy is currently on the books of Swiss outfit FC Zurich while Pedro is on the boos of Serie A outfit Lazio have all emerged as target for Wydad.
The report adds that Wydad hope that the team’s participation in the Club World Cup will boost their chances of signing both players
Radio Mars journalist Adel Al-Amari revealed the talks between the Casbalanca outfit and the two European players.
“The former defender for City and a number of French clubs, and another player for Spanish and Italian teams, as well as for Chelsea, are close to Wydad,” he said, as per Le Site Ifo.
Wydad Casablanca has been paired with Manchester City, Juventus and Al Ain in Group G.
