Wydad Casablanca in advanced talks to sign Nordin Amrabat to strengthen squad

Amrabat 1

Moroccan giants, Wydad Casablanca, are reportedly in advanced negotiations to sign experienced midfielder Nordin Amrabat as they seek to bolster their squad for the remainder of the season.

The 37-year-old midfielder, currently under contract with AEK Athens, has had a challenging season, featuring in just nine of the club’s 23 matches so far.

With six months remaining on his contract, Amrabat is eager for a fresh start, aiming to secure regular playing time and rejuvenate his career.

Wydad Casablanca, meanwhile, is experiencing a less demanding campaign compared to last season, with participation limited to national competitions.

Despite this reduced workload, the team has struggled to achieve desired results. Currently sitting sixth in the league and second in their group in the Cup, Wydad’s management sees Amrabat as a valuable addition to strengthen their midfield and provide much-needed experience.

Amrabat’s potential move would not only address Wydad’s on-field needs but also mark a return to his home country, where his presence could inspire both teammates and fans.

The deal, if finalised, would signal Wydad’s intent to climb higher in the league standings and contend for domestic silverware this season.
