Wydad Casablanca has set its sights on South African striker Percy Tau, currently playing for Al Ahly. The Moroccan football giants are reportedly interested in bringing the 30-year-old forward to their ranks as they seek to bolster their squad ahead of the upcoming season.

Tau, who has been a key figure for Al Ahly since joining the Egyptian club, has caught the attention of Wydad’s management, particularly due to his established relationship with Wydad’s new coach, Rulani Mokwena.

The two share a history, having previously worked together in South Africa, and this connection has fueled speculation that Tau could be on the move.

Wydad Athletic Club, one of Morocco’s most successful football teams, is in the midst of a significant squad overhaul.

As part of this process, the club is actively seeking experienced players who can make an immediate impact.

Percy Tau fits the profile of the kind of talent they are looking to add to their roster.

“We are in a period of renewal of the squad and are searching for players with experience.

Players like Tau interest us,” said Saad Al-Dreib, a member of Wydad’s board of directors.

This statement confirms the club’s interest in the South African forward and hints at ongoing efforts to secure his services.

Tau’s versatility and skill have made him a valuable asset for Al Ahly, where he has played a crucial role in the team’s successes.

However, the opportunity to reunite with Mokwena and take on a new challenge in the Moroccan league could be appealing for the Bafana Bafana star.

Percy Tau’s career has been marked by impressive stints across various leagues.

After rising to prominence with Mamelodi Sundowns in South Africa, where he won multiple domestic titles and the CAF Champions League, Tau moved to Europe, joining Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion.

Although his time in England was challenging, with limited playing opportunities, he continued to develop his game.

In 2021, Tau transferred to Al Ahly, where he reunited with his former coach Pitso Mosimane.

At Al Ahly, Tau has been a key player, contributing to the club’s domestic and continental campaigns.

His ability to play as a forward or attacking midfielder has made him a versatile option in any team he’s been a part of.

Should the transfer materialize, Tau’s arrival at Wydad Casablanca could significantly strengthen the team’s attacking options.

Known for his speed, dribbling, and vision, Tau has the qualities that could help Wydad compete at the highest levels both domestically and in the CAF Champions League.

Moreover, his experience in various leagues and international tournaments would bring a wealth of knowledge to a Wydad side looking to maintain its status as one of Africa’s top clubs.

With Mokwena at the helm, Tau would also benefit from a familiar coaching style, potentially easing his transition into Moroccan football.

As Wydad Casablanca continues its pursuit of Percy Tau, the transfer market will be closely watched by fans and analysts alike.

If the deal goes through, it could mark a significant move for both the player and the club, setting the stage for an exciting new chapter in Tau’s career.
