Malick Evouna Confirms Desire to Join Al Ahly Amid Transfer Wrangle
After a prolific season with Wydad Casablanca, Gabonese striker Malick Evouna is set on leaving the Moroccan giants—with Egyptian powerhouse Al Ahly as his preferred destination. Despite interest from Polish side Legia Warsaw, the 22-year-old forward has made his intentions clear.
“I’ve made my choice. I’m just waiting for the transfer to Al Ahly to be made official,” Evouna told a source close to the matter, according to Footafrica365.fr.
Evouna finished last season as Wydad’s top scorer with 16 goals, playing a key role in the club’s domestic success. However, while the player is eager to take the next step in his career, the Moroccan club appears reluctant to part with their star forward so easily.
Negotiations are reportedly being slowed not only by Wydad’s firm stance—possibly aimed at driving up the transfer fee—but also by complications involving third parties. Intermediaries involved in the deal and the Mbérie Sportif Center in Gabon, where Evouna began his career, are said to be demanding a share of the transfer fee, which is further complicating and delaying the process.
Wydad Casablanca is believed to be holding out for a more lucrative deal, and Al Ahly, known for its ambition and financial strength, may eventually meet their demands. For now, though, the transfer remains on hold.
Should the deal be completed, Malick Evouna would become the latest high-profile addition to Al Ahly’s squad, as the Egyptian club looks to reclaim continental dominance. The move would also mark a major step in the striker’s career, offering him both financial security and a chance to shine on the African and Arab football stage.
