Wydad Casablanca has firmly denied speculation linking the club with Raja Casablanca players Abdellah Khafifi and Saber Bougrine ahead of the summer transfer window.
A source within Wydad, speaking to Le Site Info, dismissed the rumors, emphasizing that the club’s priority remains the ongoing domestic campaign and preparations for the FIFA Club World Cup, set to take place in June in the United States.
“The club has not made any contact with players or agents regarding the next transfer window,” the source stated. “Right now, our focus is on finishing the season strongly and getting ready for the Club World Cup. Any recruitment decisions will only be made after that competition.”
Raja’s financial struggles and contract renewals
Meanwhile, Raja Casablanca is actively working to retain key players whose contracts are set to expire, despite the club’s ongoing financial difficulties.
Raja was unable to sign new players in the most recent transfer window due to financial constraints, and several players have sought overdue salary payments, with some considering legal action through the Moroccan Football Federation’s (FRMF) disputes committee.
The club has already lost several key figures this season.
Yousri Bouzok moved to Al Wehda, veteran goalkeeper Anas Zniti joined Al Wasl, while Mohamed Zrida and Naouel Zarhouni signed with Al-Ittihad Tripoli.
No immediate transfer talks at Wydad
Despite rumors, Wydad remains content with its current squad and has not initiated discussions about potential signings.
The club’s transfer strategy will only be finalized after their participation in the Club World Cup, where they aim to represent Moroccan football on the global stage.
