Wydad Casablanca clear out two more players in summer transfer shake-up

Moroccan giants Wydad Athletic Club have moved to further reshape their squad, with the club agreeing the departure of two more players during the summer transfer window.

Hamza Al-Wasti has terminated his contract with Wydad by mutual consent, while Mohamed Bouchouari is also set to leave after the club reached an agreement with Dutch side NAC Breda for his permanent transfer.

The moves form part of Wydad’s ongoing squad restructuring as the Casablanca club continue to make changes ahead of the new season.

Al-Wasti agrees contract termination

Wydad president Ibrahim Al-Asri has reached an agreement with Al-Wasti to end the midfielder’s contract by mutual consent.

As part of the agreement, the club will settle the player’s outstanding financial dues through three instalments, with both parties having agreed specific payment deadlines.

The arrangement brings an end to Al-Wasti’s time at the Moroccan club without the need for a transfer.

Bouchouari set for Dutch return

Bouchouari’s departure is also close to completion after Wydad reached a final agreement with NAC Breda over the permanent transfer of the player.

The Morocco-based club signed Bouchouari from French side Rodez during last summer’s transfer window on a three-season contract.

However, the player struggled to establish himself in Wydad’s starting line-up and failed to make the expected impact.

His performances also did not convince the club’s new coach of his technical suitability, prompting Wydad to open the door for a permanent exit.

The agreement with NAC Breda now gives Bouchouari the chance to revive his career in the Netherlands, while Wydad continue their efforts to build a squad capable of competing at the highest level of Moroccan and African football.
