The Libyan Premier League enjoyed a busy and ambitious winter transfer window, as clubs rushed to bring in standout talent from across Africa and the world to raise the level of competition.

The headline move was Libyan international Fadel Salama joining Al Ittihad from Ahly Benghazi for around 4 million euros, making him the most expensive local player in league history. Ahly Tripoli also made a statement by signing Syrian forward Pablo Sabbagh from South Korea’s Suwon for about 2 million dollars.

Al Ittihad further strengthened with Burkina Faso midfielder Stephane Aziz Ki on a two-year deal worth roughly 1 million dollars, alongside Libyan playmaker Ahmed Benali from Italian side Virtus Entella. South African star Thembinkosi Lorch arrived from Morocco’s Wydad for around 3.55 million euros, instantly ranking among the window’s top signings.

Another major coup saw Burkina Faso international Ibrahim Blati Touré leave Egypt’s Pyramids for Ahly Tripoli. Elsewhere, Sweahli landed Tunisian defender Nader Ghandri from Akhmat Grozny, while Ahly Benghazi secured Congolese striker Nathan Idumba from South Africa’s Chippa United.

Al Nasr added Tanzanian international Kibu Denis from Simba, Al Ittihad Al Askary signed Tunisian Mourad Hedhli, and Cameroonian forward Anatole Abang joined Al Ittihad from UAE club Al Bataeh to bolster the attack.
