Wydad AC star Thembinkosi Lorch responds to Hugo Broos’ ‘Old age’ tag with a goal
Wydad Casablanca striker Thembinkosi Lorch has swiftly responded to South Africa coach Hugo Broos with a goal in the Moroccan top-flight amid the latter’s ‘old age’ tag.
Despite being on top form, Broos has decided not to include the enterprising attacker in the Bafana Bafana squad as the Africa Cup of Nations approaches, claiming he is not the future for the national team considering his age.
“Now, he is playing good in Morocco, but you have to look as it is. This is not the future, I am very sorry. This is not the future. For Lorch, for the moment, I don’t see any reason why I should take him for the team, even if he has good performances in Morocco,” Broos said after choosing his squad last Thursday.
Lorch has swiftly responded to Broos comment, registering his name on the scoresheet for Wydad AC in the Moroccan top-flight.
Broos’ comment appears to have inspired Lorch, with the 32-year forward registering his fifth goal of the campaign across competitions.
His strike was against Olympique Safi on Sunday just before the half hour mark as Wydad ran away 2-1 victors.
