Wydad AC seeks urgent clarity on league schedule and CAF qualification rules

Wydad Athletic have formally written to the National Professional Football League, calling for immediate clarification on key issues surrounding the remainder of the current season and qualification criteria for continental competitions.

Per statement released, the move by the Moroccan giants is driven by the need to protect the club’s interests while upholding the principles of transparency and fairness within the domestic league structure.

Central to their concerns is the lack of a clearly defined fixture schedule for the remaining matches of the season. The members urged the league authorities to publish a detailed and definitive calendar as soon as possible, arguing that the current uncertainty is disrupting both sporting preparations and administrative planning across clubs.

“The ambiguity surrounding the match schedule is hindering proper organization at all levels,” the statement noted, adding that professional competitions must be governed by clarity and structure.

Beyond scheduling, the Wydad representatives also demanded an official and unambiguous explanation of the qualification criteria for African club competitions, including the CAF Champions League and the CAF Confederation Cup. They insisted that the governing body must clearly outline the rules to eliminate speculation and ensure all clubs operate under the same understanding.

The ongoing lack of clarity undermines the principle of equal opportunity and has direct consequences on clubs’ technical planning and financial projections—factors that are critical in a professional football environment.
