Wydad Athletic Club head coach Rulani Mokwena has taken full responsibility for his outfit heavy home defeat to MAS de Fez in the Moroccan top-flight.
The visitors delivered an outstanding performance, thrashing Wydad AC 4-1 on Saturday, marking their heaviest loss in a decade.
Despite a promising seven-match unbeaten streak, the team’s performance was marred by a red card in the 11th minute.
However, MAS de Fez capitalized to defeat Wydad AC to snatch maximum points in the highly competitive clash.
“The coach is at blame when the team loses. “I accept full responsibility because I choose the lineup,” he stated in a statement following the game.
“I want to stay and help the club see better days. I have the energy and fighting spirit, but first, we must acknowledge our current position,” Mokwena added.
Wydad AC opened the scoring in the 21st minute through Mohamed Rayhi before Kabelo Seakanyeng level the score for the visitors as the first half ended in a 1-1 draw.
The visitors came in strongly in the second half, scoring three additional goals to make light work of Wydad AC.
A goal from Hamid Ahadad and Mohamed El Badoui’s brace was enough for the visitors to secure victory.
