Wycombe Wanderers tie down teenage sensation Micah Olabiyi with first pro contract

Wycombe Wanderers have handed teenage winger Micah Olabiyi his first professional contract, capping a remarkable rise through the club’s ranks on his 17th birthday.

The deal underlines the League One club’s faith in one of their brightest academy products after an impressive breakthrough campaign that saw him progress from youth football to the senior squad in less than a year.

Olabiyi joined the Chairboys’ academy ahead of the 2025/26 season and wasted little time making an impression. His rapid development earned him a place in the first team, where he continued to justify the club’s growing belief in his potential.

The youngster made club history last August by becoming one of Wycombe’s youngest-ever players in a competitive fixture when he featured in the Carabao Cup against Bromley at just 16 years old.

His momentum continued throughout the campaign as he trained consistently with the senior squad and gained valuable first-team experience. He rounded off the season in unforgettable fashion, making his English Football League debut against Rotherham United before scoring a dramatic stoppage-time winner.

The goal cemented his place among the youngest players to score for Wycombe in the EFL and further strengthened his reputation as one of the academy’s standout prospects.

Recognition for a rapid rise

Olabiyi has remained firmly in the club’s first-team plans ahead of the 2026/27 campaign and continued his impressive form by finding the net during Wycombe’s recent pre-season victory over Ebbsfleet United.

His progress has now been rewarded with a long-term commitment from the club, marking another major success story for Wycombe’s revitalised academy system.

Academy Director Jeremy Sauer praised the winger’s development and highlighted the significance of the latest milestone.

“We’re hugely proud to celebrate Micah’s birthday today by signing his first professional contract.

“Congratulations to him and all of his hard-work over the past 18 months of joining Wycombe Wanderers.

“Today marks another exciting milestone. As one of the youngest in his age group, we’ve all had to be patient to secure him to the club for the long-term.

“This is another demonstration of how committed our club is to developing and producing academy players into our first team.”

Bright future ahead

Sauer also credited Olabiyi’s family, former coaches and the club’s recruitment staff for helping shape the youngster’s journey, expressing confidence that the winger can continue making an impact at senior level.

For Wycombe, the contract is another indicator that their investment in youth development is beginning to bear fruit. Olabiyi has already ticked off several major milestones, including a senior debut, an EFL debut and a match-winning goal, achievements few players accomplish before turning 17.

Now officially a professional, the exciting winger will be aiming to build on an extraordinary first year at Adams Park. With regular involvement in pre-season and growing trust from the coaching staff, Olabiyi enters the 2026/27 campaign with the opportunity to establish himself as a permanent member of Wycombe Wanderers’ first-team squad.
