Wrexham linked with €6m-rated Saint-Etienne midfielder Augustine Boakye
Augustine Boakye, the Ghanaian attacking midfielder at Saint-Etienne, has been linked with a move to Wrexham.
Boakye, 25, currently plays for Saint-Etienne in Ligue 2, while Wrexham are competing in the Championship. The left-footed midfielder has started both of his club’s league matches this season and has provided one assist in 127 minutes.
The Ghana international joined Saint-Etienne on 13 July 2024 and remains under contract until 30 June 2028. His current market value is listed at €6m, a figure that provides an indication of the potential scale of any deal involving the midfielder.
Boakye has not featured for Ghana at the 2026 World Cup, with no appearances recorded in the tournament so far. His club form, however, has included a regular starting role at the beginning of the current Ligue 2 campaign.
The reported link comes with Boakye established at Saint-Etienne but still early in his current contract, meaning any move to Wrexham would involve a transfer rather than a free-agent switch. There is no indication that an agreement has been reached, and the proposed move remains at the rumour stage.
Boakye’s next steps will therefore depend on whether Wrexham pursue the interest and whether Saint-Etienne are prepared to consider an approach for a player contracted through June 2028.
